“A consummate artist & performer, Jonathan sings with unusual artistry & sensitivity, and communicates his intentions so clearly with each phrase...”

From the Hamlet of Wallkill, New York, Jonathan’s earliest memory of singing is on the kindergarten school bus, where he annoyed the devil out of his young classmates.

Gratefully, the bus driver was supportive, and he began his formal training in the 10th grade, participating in honor’s choirs of all levels throughout high school.

At Bard, he was cast in scenes as early as his freshman year, appearing as Dottore Malatesta, Top, Don Giovanni, Rodrigo, Marcello, Guglielmo, and others; he was twice chosen to appear with the American Symphony Orchestra in special yearly concerts for College donors & trustees.

After the pandemic—and several years of gigging, teaching, & recitaling—he returned to school, choosing the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College, State University of New York. Since then, he has principled in no fewer than three productions each year, appearing as Il conte, Madame de la Haltiѐre (pictured), Papageno, Harlekin, Peter (the Besenbinder), and others. He also appeared in the yearly scenes program.

Jonathan is excited for the coming season, which includes an appearance as Simone in Gianni Schicci, a Bach Cantata series with UCC Darien, and a set of experimental electronic music at the Iroquois Museum’s 2024 Experimental & Progressive Music Festival.

Jonathan studies with soprano Bonnie Hamilton, and coaches with Hugh Murphy.
